People have been coming to India from ancient times. Many people came to India
in India.

during the partition of India,1971 war, Afghanistan migration, Pakistan migration due to either they suffer discrimination in religious views or lifestyle or castes. Like people from Sri Lanka who were Christian Tamils go through discrimination from other Tamil religious views. People from Bangladesh and Pakistan also came to India and started living

During the Indo Bangladeshi war, many came to Assam many of them were immigrants.

National Register of Citizen,India -

The story of the Citizenship in India starts from the Citizenship Act,1955 which got changed or amended in the year 2003 by then the Central Government of India, BJP under Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Former Prime Minister of India. 2003 Amendment brought its implementation in Assam in 2013-2014. It was known as The National Register of Citizens, it is mandated in the constitution,2003.NRC was launched in Assam and everyone in Assam was asked to register at NRC, this was done to identified illegal migrants in India. Indian Government wanted to implement NRC  all over India in 2020 but it failed.

As we all know that Assam is being a state that borders with Bangladesh faced a vital situation when after the India - Pakistan war in 1970s many refugees came to India from Bangladesh, due to suffering from Pakistan militants and no food, they came to India and stayed. Do you know? Illegal Migrants Act,1983 was passed by Parliament stated that a separate tribunal process would be created to identify the immigrants from other countries in Assam Thus, the Indian Government launched NRC for Asam in 2013. More than 31 million population of Asam were registered and more than 1.8 million were stateless.

What is National Population Register,India?

According to the Citizenship Rules, 2003, the central government can issue an order to prepare the National Population Register (NPR) and create the NRC based on the data gathered in it.

NPR is a list of all people residents of India includes both citizens and none citizens such as tourists from other countries living in India for years or illegal immigrants.

This NPR details or database is recorded and updated.
National Population Register is the process of conducting a listing of all usual residents of India. It is mandatory and is done under the provisions Citizenship Act,1955 and rules of registration of citizens and issue of National Identity Cards,2003. This kind of listings is done in all regions of the country, from the local village to the local town and then district to the city level and later state to National level. All the details of NPR are being recorded and the stored database is continuously updated. It was 2010 when the first NPR was launched and it listed more than 119 crore residents of India.
This database was later used and updated by the Government to maintain an Aadhar DAtabase. This was done by asking people to link their biometric information with the Aadhar DAtabase in 2015.

So now from the amendment in CitizenShip Act,1955  in 2003, and then creating a listing of all usual residents of India and providing an identity card with them to creating an Aadhar database is revised.
identity card.

CAA

Citizenship Act was first started in 1955 during PM Jawaharlal Nehru, at that time also registration of all citizens of India was done see your ration card. This Citizenship Act,1955 was amended in 2003 and some more points were added to this act.
1- Issue of National Identity Cards
2-The Indian Government can make the preparation of National Register of Indian Citizens if they want.
Well at that moment in 2003 this was not that much concern.

In 2019, another amendment was made in the Citizenship Act which stated that people who are Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian and these people may be of religious minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan fled from there and reached India before 31 Dec 2014 would be provided the Citizenship in India. Yes, many people in India are Afghanis, Pakistanis, and Bangladeshis who migrated to India as they were suffering  discrimination in their countries, those are Hindus, Persians, Jainist, Buddhists, and more in religion and now many of them are living in India without a proper document or identity of Citizenship. As they are now expelled or left their country, they stay in India as India is a Multi-religious country. Taking all these into consideration, the BJP  government in 2019 passed a resolution CAB in the Parliament of India and got it passed from the Parliament on 11 Dec 2019 ,this amendment act is popularly known as the Citizenships Amendment Act ,2019 of India
On 20 December the President of India signed the bill CAB and this Citizenship Amendment Bill became the Citizenships Amendment Act of 2019. When this act came into force, want to know, well it does come into action all over India on 10 January 2020, it was implemented across the country and the Registrar General of Citizen Registration issued the notification that now it was the time to prepare another National Population Register and update the last one. The timeline for doing NPR  all over the country was 1 Apr 2020 to 30 Sep 2020 but due to Covid 19, it could not be acted.
On 20 Dec 2019 seven refugees of Pakistan were given certificates of Indian citizenship by the Indian Government.
CAA and NRC were then implemented in the whole of India except Assam 2020.

Differences between NRC and CAA

NRC is a list of Indian citizens and none citizens.

CAA is an act of Parliament in which people who were persecuted in their own countries on the basis of religion or castes such as illegal immigrants or refugees from three countries Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan a before 31 Dec 2014  are only included.

Conclusion--

So, we got to about what is CAA, NPR, NRC  in India and how the citizenship act is amended, and how many times it has been amended. Assam is the state of India where this CAA,2019 was not implemented.
