Top facts and stories of South Indian states - Kerala , Karnataka, Tamilnadu , Telangana and Andhra Pradesh | National

 We love to know about south Indian states, there are many tourist places to roam around in South India. There are many beaches, historic places, gardens, and more to see in South India. South India is known for music, culture, different languages, sculpture, and dance. Many folk dances originated in South India like Bharatnatyam, Kuchupudi, Kathakali, and more. Let us know some top facts and stories about South Indian states. 

KERALA

1- Kerala is also known as God's own country because of its natural beauty and tourism status.

2- Kalaripayattu is known as Mother of martial arts(originated in Kerala) which was brought to China by Buddhist monk Bodhi Dharma in 5th century A.D.

3- Vasco deGama  first founded India , you know where he landed at first in India well it was Calicut of Kerala.

4- Ayurveda is still a recognized medical treatment in Kerala , it is still practiced there and many people from all over the world come to Kerala for getting and learn Ayurveda treatment.

5- Kerala is also known as Spice coast of India because spices like clove, cardamom, pepper, turmeric and more. are exported to other countries from Kerala till today.

6-  World oldest teak plantation - Conolly's Plot which started in 1840 by H.V. Conolly , this plantation is in Nilambur, Kerala ,in this plantation you can find teak trees of years as of more than 100 years old.

7- Kerala is the first state which has declared internet access to its state citizens, a basic right to access internet.

8- The largest number of elephants in India are found in Kerala , elephant can be found on the emblem of Government of Kerala.

9- The economy of Kerala is the 9th largest economy in India.

10- Alleppey is known as Venice of India because of its backwaters, is located in Kerala.

Well, Kerala is a recognized state of India , well known for its highest literacy rate in India, well known for Padmashabha Swamy temple which is the richest temple of the world, well known for its natural calmness , vast beaches, even Kathakali,a famous folk dance of India originated in Kerala. Famous people like P.T. Usha, K.R.Narayan , Anju Bobby George, Resul Pookutty ( amusician who worked in Slumdog Millionaire for prducing sound mixing) and more were born in Kerala. 

TAMILNADU

1- Tamil is one of the oldest language of the world.

2- Hominid population was in this region 1000 years ago before homo sapiens arrived here from Africa. 

3- Bharatnatyam originated in Tamilnadu.

4- Tamil film industry which produced the largest number of movies in 2013 is also known as Kollywood.

5- Nilgiri mountain railway, Brihadishawara temple, Shore temple and Airavateshwara temple are declared as UNESCO World Heritage Sites , these structures  are present in Tamilnadu.

6- Snooker originated in Ooty, Tamilnadu in 1875.

7- Marina beach , a famous tourist destination is located in Channai, Tamilnadu.

8- Bhakti movement started in Tamilnadu. 

9- Ancient Tamilnadu was not conquered by Mauryan empire they failed to conquer this region. But Mauryan conquered whole India but not Tamilnadu.

10- Kanyakumari which is the southernmost tip of India is in Tamilnadu. Even Ram Setu is located near Tamilnadu.

A.R. Rehman, Jayalalitha, MS Subbalakshmi, Vishwanathan Anand , MS Swaminathan(Father of Green revolution), APJ Abdul Kalam and more heroic people are born in Tamilnadu and have done a lot for mankind as well as for their country. Tamilnadu is well known for its art, culture, mystic temples, dance and religion. Chola empire which is one of the powerful kingdom of India started from here itself ,Cholas were well known for their great temples and Chola empire spreaded from the coastline of Tamilnadu to China ,Japan, Indonesia, Phillipenes and more places were influenced by Cholas.

KARNATAKA

1- Karnataka is the sixth largest state by area and 8th largest state by population.

2- Gold which were discovered in Harappa were imported from the mines of Karnataka , there was some contact between ancient Karnataka and Indus Valley Civilization.

3- Vijayanagara empire which was one of the largest empire of South India originated from Karnataka.

4- Tipu Sultan and Haider Ali, both born in Karnataka are some popular names of those kings who fought to British Raj for the Independence of India. 

5- Karnataka has a special place in terms of starting Radio in India , Aakaashvani in 1935 was the first radio station started by Prof. MV Gopalaswamy in Mysore, Karnataka. 

6- Kodava Hockey Festival is the largest hockey tournament which occurs in Kodava, Karnataka.

7- Karnataka has second number of nationally protected monuments in India after Uttar Pradesh as first. Karnataka is marked as fourth popular tourist destination in India. 

8- Jog Falls present in between Shimoga district and Uttarra Kannada region of Karnataka is India 's tallest single tiered waterfall.

9- Chinnaswamy Stadium which is one the best and oldest cricket stadium in India is located in Bengaluru, capital city of Karnataka.

10- Oriental library located in Mysore ,Karnataka is the oldest library of India built in 1891, Arthashashtra ,an ancient book written by Chanakya is preserved in this library.

Karnataka is famous for its waterfalls, old monuments, western ghats, hill stations, and more. It is known for its Carnatic music which originated from Karnataka. Popular people born in this state are Anil Kumble , a great Indian cricketer,  Aishwarya Rai(Indian actress), Rajnikanth(Indian actor),Pandit Bhimsen Joshi(classic musician), NR Naryana Murthy (founder of Infosys) and more.

TELANGANA

1- Telangana was formed on 2 June 2014 after the separation of northern western part of Andhra Pradesh to form Telangana as a state. 

2- Hyderabad is the capital city of Telangana and major language spoken in Telangana is Telegu.

3- Hyderabad is famous for its cuisine ,Because of its Hyderabadi cuisine, Hyderabad is on the list of UNESCO creative city of gastronomy.

4- Ramappa temple which is also known as Rudreswara temple present in Telangana was declared as UNESCO world heritage site in July 2021.

5- Telangana is situated on the Deccan plateau ,Godavari river and Krishna river are the important rivers which flows through this region.

6- Telangana was awarded the World Green City Award by AIPH in 2022. 

7- Sania Mirza , a great tennis player has been appointed as  Govt. Brand Ambassador of Telangana.

8- Begum Bazaar in Hyderabad is one of the largest commercial market of India. Almost all types of household commodities are sold here.

9- Prasad's IMAX screen, a movie screen located in Hyderabad,Telangana is the largest screen in the world ,it is very known for its 3D technology.  

10- Ramoji Film City is the largest film studio complex in the world located in Hyderabad, Telangana. Hyderabad is very famous tourist place and the best place for movie maker to shoot their movies. 

Well, Telangana is a big state and known for its forts, palaces, film city, a link between North India and South India , Telangana is well known for its Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb. Famous tourist places of Telangana - Char Minar, Golconda Fort, Falaknuma Palace, and moreover Hyderabad is known as 2nd best place for tourism in the world. 



ANDHRA PRADESH 

1- Andhra Pradesh is a South Indian state , it is  the 7th largest state of India by area and 10th most populated state of India

2- Andhra Pradesh has the second longest coastline of India,  it is about 974 km. 

3- Andhra Pradesh is the largest producer of rice in India ,it is called as Rice Bowl of India.

4- Tirumala Venkateshwar Temple located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh is one of most visited temple of India.

5- Amravati is the capital city of this state and Telegu is official language of the state and moreover Urdu is the second official language of Andhra Pradesh.

6- Lambasingi is a small village located in Vishakhapatnam ,Andhra Pradesh is known as Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh because of its climate and nature. 

7- Andhra Pradesh has 1/3rd of limestone reserves and listed at the top for its mica production , Andhra Pradesh is well known for mineral resources. 

8- Kuchipudi is the official dance form of the state and originated from Kuchupudi village of Andhra Pradesh.

9- Telegu film industry also known as Tollywood is the second largest film industry of India after Bollywood.

10- Pandit Nehru Bus Station located in Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh is one the largest bus station of Asia  and Visakhapatnam is known as the cleanest railway station of India.

Famous tourist destination of Andhra Pradesh are Araku valley, Ananthgiri hills, Papi hills, Srisailam Temple, Gandikota which is also known as Grand canyon of India and many more popular places are there in Andhra Pradesh to travel and visit. Famous people born in Andhra Pradesh are Alluri Sitaram Raju ( a great rebellion who fought to British for the independence of India, he started guerilla warfare against Britishers in 1922 to 1924 ), Anji Reddy ( Founder of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories ) , A.S Rao ( Founder of Electronics Corporation of India Limited ), Cheeranjeevi ( a famous actor ) and more.
