 Olympics is an international event held every four years , where more than thousands of athletes take part into games like badminton, racing, archery, swimming, volleyball, jumping, sailing, judo, boxing and more games are held. All these participants may come from different countries or regions and they represent that country in these games , these players come into a competition with each other and the person who wins ,wins gold, silver and bronze medals. 1- Origin of Olympics is related to Greek Gods Heracles ,also known as Hercules where he brought this event to be held in Olympia, Greece . It was son of Zeus ,Heracles who formed this event after his completion of Twelve labours. In Ancient Olympics, for first thirteen Olympics ,only footrace was a game which was contested. This Ancient Olympic led by Greek Gods can be detected during 776 BC.

2- Later on , more games other than footrace , like boxing, jumping, wrestling and more evolved and added to the Olympics. Did you know First person who won the First Olympic was a cook. Coroebus was a cook in Elis (which is an ancient city) was the first Olympic champion.

3- Olympic got more evolved during 5th and 6th centuries of BC but later when Romans empire came up ,they started to end Olympics .

4- It was in 1894, when Baron Pierre de Coubertin who is known as the Father of Modern Olympics, he was the one who renowned an International Olympic Committee in order to restart Olympic games where athletes from all over the world can participate. 

5- It was in 1896, when first Modern Olympics games were held in Athens.

6- The Olympic flag consists of five rings which represents the unity of five continents of the world and colors of five - blue, yellow, black, green and red, these colors were selected because all countries of the world have their country maps where either one of these five colors may present in their flag. So, it resembles unity among all countries of all five continents.

7- Earlier when Modern Olympics started only two medals were there Silver for First person who won the game and Bronze who came second in the game but it was in 1904 Olympics when three medals were introduced and given , gold to first, silver to third and bronze to third.

8- 1936 Olympics was the first Summer Olympic which was shown to local audience on Television. It was 1956 Olympics was the first Olympic game which was internationally shown on television.

9- Coca Cola sponsored 1928 Olympics and still till today it is one of the company who has always been sponsored Olympics.

10- Australia, France, Greece, United Kingdom and Switzerland are countries who have taken participation in all Olympics held since 1896.

11- Unites States has won the most no. of medals including (gold ,silver and bronze) , 2959 medals as a total no. of Olympics medals. It is the same country - United State which has won the most no. of gold medals.

12- Moreover, USA is the country which has hosted Olympics the most number of times.

13- India, Southeast Asian countries, Central Asia , Southern Pacific regions have never hosted any Olympics games.

14- India took part in 1900 for Olympics and became the first Asian country to win medals in Olympics, India has won 38 medals till now in Olympics and the most number of medals for India comes from sport - Field Hockey. 12 medals , India has won in Field hockey till now , 7 medals in Shooting, 7 medals in wrestling. 

15- Chess is not an Olympic game.

16- There are four types of Olympics games- Summer Olympics, Winter Olympics, Youth Olympic games for people between 15 to 18 years old and Paralympics for disabled athletes. Ice hockey, ski jumping are some sports which are only played in Winter Olympics.

17- Paris has become a city which has hosted three times summer Olympics after London. Paris is the host country for Summer Olympics 2024-Paris

18- Michael Phelps from USA has won the most number of Olympic medals. His sport was Swimming in which he won 28 medals from 2004 - 2016 Olympics games.

19- Again , Michael Phelps is the person who have won most medals as a single person in a single  Olympic game, he won 8 medals in 2008 Olympics.

20- Marjorie Gestring is the youngest person who won a gold medal in Olympics . She was from USA , and was only 13 years , 268 days when she won a gold medal in 1936 Olympic game held in Berlin.
